There are lots of ways to see Kauai's beautiful back country. One of the best is on horseback. Only in Kauai can you ride a horse across the wide-open pastures of a working ranch under volcanic peaks, and rein up near a waterfall poo. Two North Shore stables offer rides meandering through glorious scenic vistas on secure horses that know their way along the trail. Each offers a stop and a swim in secluded waterfalls. For variety, try a riding opportunity on the east side or south shore. Call ahead for reservations. Then arrive early [45-60 minutes recommended] so you and hour mount can get acquainted. Wear long pants and closed toe shoes. |
