Sport fishing is one of the more popular activities in Kauai.
Salt Water deep sea fishing specializes in
- ono [wahoo],
- mahi mahi [dorado or dolphin fish],
- ahi [yellow fin tuna],
- aku [skipjack tuna]
- marlin [blue, black, and stripers]
- Opaka Paka [pink snapper]
Fishing boats are available on both exclusive and shared charters. Family members may accompany at reduced rates. Mounting services are available in Kauai. Charters leave from:
- Hanalei Bay [3 miles from Princeville]
- Anini Beach [3 miles from Princeville]
- Nawiliwili Harbor [35 miles from Princeville]
- West Side Harbors [60 miles from Princeville]
Boats can vary widely and can add/detract from your fishing experience. Bertrams and Radons are popular. Bertrams are larger, heavier, more stable and more luxurious than Radons. Fishing tackle tends to track the boat. The more expensive the boat, the better the tackle. Check out boat details on this web page.
Fresh Water anglers can enjoy fishing for smallmouth and large mouth bass, tucunare [peacock bass], channel catfish, oscar trout and rainbow trout. Local guides take guests to various public and private lakes and streams.
