Thanks to the Denver Water Board, Many of Winter Park's backcountry roads are maintained in a condition passable to automobiles. Others have been closed to vehicular traffic to make for a more enjoyable mountain biking experience. There are limited opportunity to put a jeep or family SUV through its paces. Nevertheless, there is real value in taking a guided tour with a local company. They have excellent knowledge of the area and can provide a much more meaningful outing.
