-- Princeville vs Poipu beaches pictures and discussion
-- The beach situation right at the Cliffs The Cliffs Resort -- and most of Princeville -- is on a plateau 180 ft above the ocean. The drop to the ocean is a steep cliff [navigable every half mile via a slippery path]. Where the ocean meets the cliff is predominantly lava rock. The story is the same for any condo complex in Princeville.. Click the photo to the right for an ariel view of the area. You can make your way down the cliff on a very steep path a few hundred feet from #4202 and #9302. At the base of the cliff are lava rocks, a 20 ft beach exposed at low tide, a sea cave, and a waterfall. The nearest 100 foot beach is Kaweonui Beach which requires a quarter mile of rough hiking east across the lava rocks. So basically, the Cliffs Resort -- and most others in Princeville -- are not swim-in swim-out. Neither are the condos at Poipu. ...The Princeville Hotel and the Sheraton's and Hyatt's have the prime spots. If swim in swim out is a must, check out Puu Poa, Pali Ke Kua, and Hanalei Bay Resort...they all have steep paths to 200 ft long beaches.
